Classroom Support Assistant - Specialist SEN School. Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs? A highly regarded independent day school for children and young people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and associated special educational needs in Cranleigh, Surrey, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Classroom Support Assistant to join their outstanding team!

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide direct one-to-one and small group support to students in the classroom
  • Assist in implementing individualised learning programmes and behaviour support plans
  • Help students achieve their academic, social, and communication goals
  • Support the implementation of strategies based on Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) principles to teach new skills and reduce challenging behaviours
  • Contribute to the use of Comprehensive Application of Behaviour Analysis to Schooling (CABAS) teaching methodologies, ensuring data collection and progress monitoring
  • Help create a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and other support staff
  • Participate in regular training and professional development sessions
  • Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of learning materials

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 months' experience working with individuals with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ideally within a school or educational setting
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential due to our location and the need to support potential off-site activities
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people with autism
  • An understanding of, or a strong willingness to learn, about Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and CABAS teaching methodologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development
