Reporting into the Depot Operations Manager you will play a key role in driving our mission forward by learning to drive and operate a range of waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently collecting predominantly hazardous clinical waste vehicle safely and efficiently, in line with company standards.
Job Responsibility:
Carry out daily vehicle checks, reporting and escalating defects in line with legal requirements
Comply with tachograph legislation, WTD, SOPs, and Risk Assessments
Report incidents, near misses, contaminated bins, and non-conforming waste promptly with accurate paperwork
Maintain vehicle cleanliness and complete weekly wheel nut torque checks
Wear and maintain PPE/uniform to required Health & Safety standards
Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers
Ensure punctuality, accurate record-keeping, and completion of duty hours whilst remaining flexible with working hours and support overtime when required
Learning to drive and operate a range of waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently collecting predominantly hazardous clinical waste vehicle safely and efficiently, in line with company standards
Requirements:
Holds a valid LGV Class 2 (Category C) licence, Driver Qualification Card (DQC), and digital tachograph driver card
Willingness to learn with the ability to apply new skills effectively
Receptive to instruction and constructive feedback
Positive, proactive attitude with strong interpersonal and professional skills
Commitment to delivering excellent customer service in all aspects of work
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required
Understanding of workplace values and behaviours, with a focus on Health & Safety compliance
Basic knowledge of relevant Health & Safety policies and procedures
Ability to read and interpret maps and directions accurately
Willing to obtain airside pass for various airports
Willing to be multiskilled and drive various size/modes of vehicle
Nice to have:
Class 1 (C+E) licence
Experience driving roll on roll offs, skips, front end loaders and waste wheelers
ADR certification
