Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Claims Manager to lead our Accident & Health claims team. At BHSI, we believe every claim is an opportunity to strengthen customer relationships. This is a customer‑facing leadership role and will lead our claims offering in all Accident & Health products, including Corporate Travel, Group Personal Accident and Expatriate/Inpatriate Medical. The role is a key member of our Accident & Health team, contributing at a strategic level while supporting the broader business objectives. The successful candidate will operate within a highly collaborative environment focused on best‑in‑class service. This role will report to the Head of Claims, Australasia and will be based in our Sydney office.
Job Responsibility:
Lead a team of claims professionals managing Accident & Health claims in line with BHSI Claims Service Standards and relevant regulatory requirements
Set expectations, coach and develop teammates
Drive high levels of customer service, technical quality, and claims performance
Collaborate with the broader BHSI Accident & Health lines team including underwriting and actuaries on claims trends, portfolio development, policy wordings and risk issues
Oversee internal and external dispute resolution matters
Meet and participate in meetings with our customers and broker partners to communicate our 'Claims is Our Product' promise
As needed travel to customer / broker meetings, conferences and industry events
Requirements:
A minimum 7 years’ experience handling Accident & Health claims
A high level of professionalism and responsibility
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Strong business acumen and an understanding of claims as a contributor to an overall insurance operation
Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently to achieve results and provide excellent customer service
Relevant ANZIIF or tertiary qualifications
