Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Claims Manager to lead our Accident & Health claims team. At BHSI, we believe every claim is an opportunity to strengthen customer relationships. This is a customer‑facing leadership role and will lead our claims offering in all Accident & Health products, including Corporate Travel, Group Personal Accident and Expatriate/Inpatriate Medical. The role is a key member of our Accident & Health team, contributing at a strategic level while supporting the broader business objectives. The successful candidate will operate within a highly collaborative environment focused on best‑in‑class service. This role will report to the Head of Claims, Australasia and will be based in our Sydney office.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead a team of claims professionals managing Accident & Health claims in line with BHSI Claims Service Standards and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Set expectations, coach and develop teammates
  • Drive high levels of customer service, technical quality, and claims performance
  • Collaborate with the broader BHSI Accident & Health lines team including underwriting and actuaries on claims trends, portfolio development, policy wordings and risk issues
  • Oversee internal and external dispute resolution matters
  • Meet and participate in meetings with our customers and broker partners to communicate our 'Claims is Our Product' promise
  • As needed travel to customer / broker meetings, conferences and industry events

Requirements

  • A minimum 7 years’ experience handling Accident & Health claims
  • A high level of professionalism and responsibility
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong business acumen and an understanding of claims as a contributor to an overall insurance operation
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills
  • Ability and willingness to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently to achieve results and provide excellent customer service
  • Relevant ANZIIF or tertiary qualifications
