Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an Executive & Professional Claims Examiner to join our dynamic and expanding team in London. This is an opportunity to work within a highly collaborative team environment dedicated to best in class claims handling. Alongside this rewarding and leading claims handling, the individual will be engaging with our valued broker and customer partners, representing our Claims is Our Product messaging externally in the market.

Job Responsibility:

  • Proactively investigate and manage Financial Lines claims (with a focus on professional indemnity) from first notice of loss through to final resolution, whilst engaging with internal stakeholders, clients and brokers as needed
  • Prepare internal reports, accurately set reserves within handling authority and make recommendations regarding reserve adjustments
  • Collaborate closely with customers, brokers, independent adjusters and legal counsel to achieve effective and timely claim outcomes
  • Present BHSI’s Executive & Professional claims proposition to our customers and brokers
  • Collaborate with underwriters and other business partners to enhance our overall value proposition
  • Support the team in the analysis of claims trends, legislative developments and broader geopolitical factors to support knowledge sharing and thought leadership across the organisation and the market

Requirements:

  • Previous experience handling Financial Lines claims (with a focus on professional indemnity), either in a claims handling or legal advisory capacity
  • A minimum of 2-4 years claims handling experience in the UK and additional jurisdictions, or equivalent expertise
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities concurrently
