The Claims Consultant is a key member of the Claims team, serving as a subject matter expert for both internal and external clients across multiple lines of business (Traditional and HNW). The role involves maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with insurers’ claims professionals and providing expert guidance on complex claims matters. Recognized as a specialist within the industry, the Claims Consultant ensures best practices are upheld and contributes to the continuous improvement of claims processes and client outcomes.
Job Responsibility:
Perform the claims assessment, approval, and related tasks in line with Treaty Terms & Conditions, RGA standards, guidelines, Claims Philosophy, and delegated claims authority
Review, validate, and approve Claims Bordereaux within authorized limits
Conduct client claims audits, including presenting findings, providing recommendations to enhance procedures and supporting clients in implementing improvements
Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and service delivery
Monitor daily claims performance, logs, and systems to ensure accuracy and high-quality standards
Identify and escalate risk, problems or needs in the day-to-day provision of claim service, audit program or claims reporting
Assist in preparing and delivering claims management reports as required
Participate in client meetings, training sessions, audits, and other collaborative activities
Provide support for ad hoc projects and initiatives
Requirements:
Appropriate degree or 5+ years equivalent related experience – medical or pharmacy qualification preferred
Experience in assessing all types of Life and Health claims. Skilled in assessing Life, Critical Illness (CI), and Health claims
Experience in reinsurance and claims auditing an asset is preferred
Excellent bilingual ability in Chinese and English, both oral and written (with approximately 70% of claims in Chinese and 30% in English) required
Experience in Life and Health quality assurance review functions
Knowledge of cancer treatments and related medical claims
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Basic working knowledge of MS Access and SQL
Strong interpersonal skills with tact, good judgment, and the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders at all levels
Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills
Self-starter with distinct attention to detail and flexibility to manage diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment
Effective multi-tasker with a proven ability to deliver results
Strong analytical and organizational skills, deadline oriented
LOMA, FLMI, ALHC qualifications preferred
Nice to have:
Experience in reinsurance and claims auditing an asset is preferred
