Job Description:

Do you have experience in civil engineering? Are you looking for your next challenge where you can lead a team to success? If so, we have a great opportunity for you in our Minor Civils Refurbishment team. This role will see you travelling across our region which covers Somerset, Avon, Dorset, Wiltshire and everything in between. A company vehicle will be provided along with all the tools you will need to complete the job.

Job Responsibility:

  • Day-to-day responsibility for managing a multi-disciplined team of two to six people
  • works on waste or supply treatment works and drinking water tanks/compartments
  • minor civil engineering solutions including mechanical works
  • excavations up to 3m
  • installations of concrete chambers below and above ground
  • install reinforced slabs
  • carry out reservoir refurbishment repairs to concrete surfaces
  • carry out health and safety inspections
  • issue permits
  • allocate labour
  • manage sub-contractors
  • purchase materials
  • site setup
  • ensure safe working practices on site

Requirements:

  • Strong minor civil engineering experience
  • experience operating plant machinery, such as excavators or dumpers
  • valid UK driving licence

  • Performs or leads in-depth inspections using non-destructive testing methods, mechanized access equipment and/or climbing gear
  • Performs post-incident bridge inspections to determine severity of damage and recommends appropriate actions with regard to bridge closures and detours
  • Coordinates with bridge owners and other agencies on inspection schedules, traffic control, railroad access, navigational channels, etc
  • Performs lead worker responsibilities, which may include providing general instruction assigning and reviewing work, coaching and training, providing guidance and instruction in the proper and most efficient methods of accomplishing tasks, and providing input to the direct supervisor on staffing decisions and performance management
