Job Description

The client is looking for a civils supervisor to manage and oversee all construction activities related to underground cable installation and replacement across the SSE area in Scotland. This is a key leadership role ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to high Standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Supervise and manage underground cable installation and replacement work
  • Conduct site surveys before, during, and after projects, reporting findings to the Project Manager
  • Plan works within the electrical/civils sector
  • Efficiently allocate staff and resources to meet project deadlines
  • Compile job packs and ensure teams are properly briefed before work begins
  • Submit necessary permits and approvals (PAIs)
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including CDM regulations
  • Motivate and support field staff to maintain high work standards
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure adherence to project specifications
  • Keep detailed site documentation and report updates to project management
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Provide mentoring and support to junior staff members

Requirements

  • Experience managing construction sites and field-based staff in LV, HV, substation, and underground works
  • NRSWA certification
  • IOSH – Managing Safety or SMSTS / SSSTS
  • First Aid & Manual Handling qualifications
  • CDM Awareness
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with clients, customers, and project teams
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and resource management
