Job Description

Tier 1 contracting business which delivers expert cabling, substation and fibre network construction services to DNOs, IDNOs and fibre companies across the South East of England. Pre Construction Managers duty is to aid and assist the preparation of cable route paving schedules programmes and estimates.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee the development of project programmes and plan the pre-quotation of Major projects with regards to all aspects of excavation and reinstatement
  • Assist with the design of EHV cable routes
  • Willing to be both site and office based in order to lead all aspects of the pre-construction activity
  • Responsible for legal and statutory compliance with the New Road & Streetworks Act, Electricity at Work Act and distribution safety rules
  • Ensure that projects are feasible by communicating with local authorities
  • Arrange for the suitable use of subcontractors to ensure all project targets are met
  • Understand the contractual obligations of the project and help advise on commercial risk at tender stage

Requirements

  • Understanding of current CDM regulations
  • Prior experience in a pre-construction role within the electrical engineering / civil utilities fields
  • Good understanding of EHV / HV cable installation schemes and their civil engineering requirements
  • Excellent people-management skills
  • Competency within Microsoft Office
