Civils Estimator

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for tenders and projects related to civil works, including trenching, ducting, and reinstatement
• Accurately assess drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to develop comprehensive pricing models
• Price multiple elements of utility works including comms/HV and LV ducting, and district heating systems
• Assess and price temporary works requirements such as trench supports, traffic management, access platforms, and structural supports
• Develop bills of quantities from drawings, specifications, and other technical document
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure accurate quotations
• Develop and maintain unit rates and cost databases for civil, utility works and district heating
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to ensure consistent pricing
• Provide input into the value engineering process and suggest cost-saving measures
• Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings as required
• Support post-tender negotiations and handover to operational teams

• Proven experience as an estimator within the civil engineering sector
• In-depth knowledge of trenching techniques, multi-utility installations, and district heating infrastructure
• Strong understanding of current industry rates, methods of measurement and pricing strategies
• Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software such as Candy, Conquest, or similar
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
