Job Description

The role of the Civil Works Design Coordinator is to ensure (design wise): Most cost-effective design; Constructability; Safety in Design

Job Responsibility

  • Plans, develops and organizes the design efforts focus on civil works. Provide administrative and technical support and direction of Design
  • To act as a technical reference for the construction team, coordinating with all the parties
  • Serve as the referent in technical aspect of civil works Design, procurement and future construction
  • As Civil Works Design Coordinator, manages the civil works Designer (earthworks, drainage, Management of Traffic, roads, pavement, utilities deviation) and assumes interfaces with other disciplines: system, track, structure, stations
  • Key actor of the Design approval process, including steps of Design review, constructability review, means and methods interface and incorporation, Client review, 3rd parties review, permitting process
  • To review and approve drawings developed by subcontractors and other Designers during different phases of the Project
  • To manage requests for information from designers
  • To review and approve subcontractor’s requests
  • To develop key performance indicators
  • Promotes and implements Safety in Design, Environment in Design

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution
  • 5-10 years’ engineering design experience within Design-Build Projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Minimum 5 years in design and/or design management of civil works and associated technical trades
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others is essential
  • Broad generalized knowledge of personnel safety, process safety, and environmental principles / regulations
  • Project management and administrative skills necessary to plan, organize, coordinate, and control the development and execution of many projects – including cost and schedule control
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of a structured project management or project development and execution process a plus
  • Excellent technical and problem solving skills to identify alternatives to challenges presented and select the most appropriate solution with minimal guidance or precedence
  • Experience working on Joint Venture (JV) construction projects required
  • Fluent in English with professional proficiency
  • Valid Driver's License

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Experience in AutoCAD
