We are offering an exceptional opportunity to join our dynamic Northwest team as a Civil & Structural Apprentice. This role is a gateway to a rewarding career, providing hands-on experience and formal education to become a fully qualified Civil or Structural Engineer, with a strong focus on the critical skills of structural integrity assessment and construction quality assurance. You will work alongside experienced professionals on a diverse range of projects, from initial concept and design to on-site inspection and completion. This apprenticeship is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of both civil infrastructure and building structures, including the techniques for visual inspection, non-destructive testing, and reporting on structural soundness and compliance.
Job Responsibility:
Assist in the production of Civil and Structural Engineering designs, ensuring compliance with current codes, standards, and best practices
Work with project teams on a diverse range of schemes, including industrial, commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects
Conduct site visits to perform visual inspections of existing buildings, steel and concrete structures, secondary containments, fireproofing, pipe bridges, underground services & pits, offshore & marine structures, bridges, and other specialist structures
Learn to identify defects, assess structural integrity, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and specifications
Participate in site surveys and monitoring activities, such as NDT, level surveys etc
Prepare and manage technical documentation, drawings, and reports using industry-standard software
Manage quality processes and contribute to continuous quality improvements within the team
Assist in the planning and management of resources, equipment, and technology to meet project deadlines
Actively engage with your formal apprenticeship training provider, applying academic knowledge to real-world engineering challenges
Requirements:
A minimum of three A-Levels at Grades A*-C (or equivalent Level 3 qualification, such as a BTEC Extended Diploma)
Your Level 3 subjects must include Mathematics and a Physical Science (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent engineering-related subject)
