CEC is a privately-held engineering firm, serving both public entities and private developers. Job Responsibility:

  • Works autonomously on various projects, particularly those with high complexity and/or risk
  • Utilizes computer software to create detailed dimensional drawings and design layouts for land development and site plans
  • Develops 3D models of projects using surfaces, horizontal alignments, vertical profiles, typical sections, and various design criteria
  • Calculates dimensions, square footage, profile and component specifications and material quantities
  • Ensures design products are complete, accurate, include the appropriate level of detail, align with client standards, and meet all relevant regulations and code requirements
  • Partners directly with clients to form an understanding of and to define project scope, constraints, and design requirements, and provides support through construction completion
  • Routinely reviews work of others to check for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with clients’ specifications
  • Assists engineers in the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, schedules and permitting for projects
  • Assists Department and Business Development team with preparation of client proposals
  • Assists with building, maintaining, and managing client relationships
  • Provides technical support to other staff as trainer and mentor
  • Cooperates and coordinates with other engineers, designers, and technicians on project activities
  • Participates in internal and external project meetings as needed
  • Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
  • Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures

Requirements:

  • Minimum of eight years related civil design experience
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in engineering studies or similar from college or technical school preferred
  • Possesses and applies broad knowledge of principles of design, construction, engineering, building regulations, and design platforms and software
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency preferred
  • English language skills: ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Reasoning skills: ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Organizational skills: ability to prioritize and organize tasks
  • ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Remote connectivity device (e.g., smart phone, tablet, etc.) with data plan sufficient for company requirements
