Job Responsibility

  • Lead the planning, process design, and execution of complex civil and environmental engineering projects, emphasizing advanced water and wastewater treatment, including process optimization for conveyance and distribution systems
  • Oversee the development of detailed calculations, reports, plans, and specifications for treatment processes, process equipment selection (e.g., pumps, filtration systems), chemical feed systems, and hydraulic modeling
  • Manage project budgets, develop cost estimates, and ensure financial feasibility, especially for water conservation and drought resilience projects
  • Ensure projects incorporate process engineering best practices, emphasizing efficiency, sustainability, and reliability in treatment operations
  • Review and approve construction submittals, ensuring compliance with California-specific codes and industry standards
  • Conduct and supervise field inspections to monitor progress, ensure compliance, and resolve on-site issues related to process equipment installation and system commissioning
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and project teams to achieve project objectives, integrating low-impact development (LID) and stormwater management approaches
  • Mentor junior engineers and support staff, providing guidance and fostering professional growth
  • Contribute to strategic planning for new projects and office expansions, offering insights into climate-resilient infrastructure and long-term sustainability initiatives aligned with California's needs

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited engineering program, with coursework or experience in process engineering principles applicable to water and wastewater systems
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California is required
  • 7-10 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering, focusing on complex site development, water recycling, water conservation, and advanced water infrastructure
  • Proficiency in CADD software, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project), and hydraulic modeling programs
  • experience with HEC-RAS, SWMM, and other advanced water treatment tools is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing complex projects and mentoring junior staff
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with experience addressing California’s specific water challenges, including drought resilience, water reuse, and environmental justice
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely
  • Proven ability to perform both office and field work as required, with familiarity with California’s diverse terrains and environmental conditions
