Purpose: The Team Leader will be expected to take on a leadership role within the engineering team to provide engineering and design services to clients and will coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients and other disciplines to deliver on schedule and on budget projects. Train and mentor junior staff in their office as well as manage workload for the team. Lead engineering and production team through the planning and design of civil engineering projects.
Job Responsibility:
Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution
Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution
Review work produced by staff for quality assurance
Assist with marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing developers, builders, and government agencies
Be able to execute through administration, technical and management techniques on multiple projects to ensure the successful completion, on time and within budget
Effectively execute project contracts and develop internal staff
Assist in developing processes and provide input on achieving company and office operational excellence while growing their region and office
Keep informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization and recommend new practices or changes in emphasis of programs
Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations
Drive the profitability and growth of projects
Apply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions
Manage competing demands and establish priorities for staff
Be responsible for client interaction, including preparation of new contract proposals, change orders, attending or leading project meetings
Lead and manage current project teams from bid until completion, while looking to obtain future business and performing own project duties
Mentor and direct junior staff, coordinate with project managers, and be responsible for goal setting and performance management of engineering team
Review project changes, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract, additional work requests, and all other factors, which may significantly affect staffing requirements or budget
Provide technical assistance in the resolution of design problems including field investigation or inspections, detailed design work, detailed review of design computations done by others and general coordination of design aspects
May act as the technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in an assigned area
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline
Licensed Professional Engineer
Ten or more (10+) years of engineering or related land development experience to include a minimum of five (5) years managing multiple complex large scale land development projects (commercial, residential, municipal)
Experience with water/wastewater systems, water treatment, water distribution, pump stations and operations
Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications and civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD and/or Civil3D or similar design software required
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and external partners
High degree of discretion and ability to manage highly confidential information
