Job Description

Randstad are recruiting for an experienced Site Agent from a civils background to lead the on-site delivery of a major upgrade package at London Heathrow Airport. Operating within a highly regulated, live airport environment, you will take full ownership of day-to-day site operations. You will be responsible for leading delivery teams, managing subcontractors, driving an exemplary safety culture, and ensuring that this high-profile infrastructure package is executed safely, on time, and to budget. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned civils professional to spearhead complex works on one of the world's busiest aviation hubs.

Job Responsibility

  • Site Leadership: Manage and mentor site engineering and supervisory teams (including Sub-Agents, Section Engineers, and Foremen) to ensure high-quality engineering control and robust record-keeping
  • Operational Delivery: Oversee daily construction activities, coordinating labor, plant, materials, and temporary works to meet strict project milestones
  • Safety & Compliance: Drive a 'Safety First' culture, ensuring absolute compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards, CDM regulations, and strict airport authority protocols
  • Commercial & Planning: Partner closely with commercial and planning teams to monitor performance against target programmes, manage cost controls, and handle change management under NEC contract mechanisms
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaise confidently with airport stakeholders, airline operators, clients, and third-party authorities to ensure minimal disruption to live airport operations
  • Reporting: Maintain comprehensive site records (diaries, RAMS, as-built drawings) and provide formal progress updates to the Project Manager

Requirements

  • Civil Engineering Background: A degree, HND, or HNC in Civil Engineering (or a strictly equivalent construction discipline)
  • Aviation Sector Experience: Proven track record of delivering civil engineering schemes within a live, high-security airport environment (airside or landside)
  • Leadership Track Record: Demonstrable experience operating as a Site Agent or Senior Sub-Agent on major infrastructure or complex civil projects
  • Contract Knowledge: Strong working familiarity with NEC3/NEC4 contract mechanisms
  • Certifications: Valid SMSTS, CSCS (Management/Supervisor), and First Aid certificates
  • Security Clearance: Ability to pass a 5-year background check and criminal record checks to obtain an airport airside pass

Nice to have

  • Deep understanding of heavy civils, terminal upgrades, groundworks, drainage, structures, or pavement/taxiway rehabilitation
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach to solving complex engineering obstacles
  • Membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE) or equivalent body
