Civil Engineer

• Execute designs for both public and private utility projects
• Design specific system components for the overall design effort including electrical substation layouts, site improvement plans, grading and drainage plans, lift stations, SPCCs, SWPPPs, and earthwork quantities
• Oversee and review the work of junior engineers in the preparation of improvement plans, specifications, and supporting documents
• Project coordination
• Develop professional knowledge and abilities through related engineering tasks
• Regularly communicate and coordinate project activities with internal and external team members
• Build meaningful relationships with utility owners and city engineers

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering
• EIT certification required
• PE License preferred
• 5 to 7 years of experience
• Working knowledge of key civil design elements such as grading, drainage, utility design, and standard construction practices
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards like CDOT, IDOT, ADA, AASHTO, and MUTCD
• Experience permitting with multiple agencies and working independently to secure site development permits
• Ability to interface and collaborate effectively with other team members
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Proficient with business and engineering applications such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microstation
• Knowledge of discipline-specific calculation software tools
