The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of Transportation System Development, Southeast Region, System Operations Section is seeking a Signals Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, and Work Zone Engineer. All positions are Civil Engineer Transportation Advanced. These positions are headquartered at 141 NW Barstow Street, Waukesha, WI. These positions offer a hybridized work schedule. The positions will be headquartered at and required to work from the Waukesha State Office Building in Waukesha, WI at least 2 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin.
Job Responsibility:
Signal Engineer - development of traffic signal design and operations plans as well as monitoring those completed by the Civil Engineer Senior/Entry positions and consultants
Maintenance Engineer - making professional engineering decisions regarding Highway Maintenance Activities
plan and specification field reviews of state highway projects
serve as a Regional Incident Management Coordinator (RIMC) which requires being on standby 24/7 on a rotating basis
provide advice and guidance on policies, rules, regulations and guidelines for all highway maintenance operations and programs
provide oversight of regional liaison activities
Work Zone Engineer - reviewing work zone designs and field implementations as well as monitoring those completed by the Civil Engineer-Senior/Entry position
provides traffic control and traffic management plan guidance and acceptance to WisDOT staff, consultants, and contractors
participates on statewide committees/teams for determining statewide traffic engineering policy, standards, and guidelines.
Requirements:
A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if PE registration is from another state.
