A design and construction organization is seeking an organized, innovative, collaborative, and forward‑thinking Civil Designer II to support and lead site development efforts. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong problem‑solving skills and is comfortable contributing both independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Job Responsibility:
Collaborate closely with civil engineers, architects, development teams, construction teams, and external consultants to produce coordinated construction documentation
Apply foundational and intermediate civil design principles to solve design challenges related to site development
Participate in project delivery by contributing to complete and accurate site documentation that meets project goals, milestones, and schedules
Support and lead site design and plan preparation, including: Site layouts, Grading plans, Stormwater management systems, Erosion control measures, Utility layouts
Participate in and, as appropriate, lead site design meetings, consultant coordination meetings, and internal project team meetings
Perform CAD drafting tasks and engineering calculations with increasing independence
Gather and analyze background site data from available online and public sources
Analyze site constraints and existing conditions to inform design decisions
Conduct zoning code reviews and research applicable agency and regulatory requirements
Participate in preconstruction activities, including schedule development and support of entitlement and review processes with municipalities and other agencies
Independently resolve routine design issues and seek guidance on unfamiliar or complex challenges
Demonstrate strong collaboration skills and set a positive example within the design team
Mentor and provide direction to intern or junior-level staff
Establish and pursue annual personal and professional development goals aligned with project and organizational objectives
Contribute to a positive team environment and ongoing knowledge‑sharing initiatives
Requirements:
Eligibility to work in the United States
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
Relevant professional experience in civil design or site development
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders
Solid mathematical background with a strong understanding of civil engineering principles (e.g., hydrology, grading)
Strong interest in site development
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Nice to have:
Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) exam
Experience with additional Autodesk tools (e.g., Navisworks, InfraWorks) and stormwater modeling software (e.g., HydroCAD)
