Job Description:

The City Engineer is responsible for administration and management of all activities of the DPW Engineering Division. Serves as an engineering advisory staff member to the DPW Commissioner's Office and other city planning development boards, committees and commissions and may serve as approval authority on the laying out of sewers, drains water mains and streets. This position is included in the city of Taunton Management Association (COTMA).

Job Responsibility:

  • Administration and management of all activities of the DPW Engineering Division
  • Serves as an engineering advisory staff member to the DPW Commissioner's Office and other city planning development boards, committees and commissions
  • May serve as approval authority on the laying out of sewers, drains water mains and streets

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related technical field
  • Registration as Professional Engineer in Massachusetts
  • Five years of progressive engineering experience preferred
  • At least three years of supervisory experience
  • Direct municipal government experience is preferred
  • Must submit to a CORI background review
