Job Description:

The City Editor for Secret LA will be responsible for generating content ideas, writing articles, managing an editorial calendar, overseeing social media strategy, and leading a team of creatives. The role requires a strong understanding of LA culture, digital media trends, and SEO best practices.

Job Responsibility:

Finding brilliant stories and generating lots of content ideas for the LA market
Writing engaging, accurate, and informative articles
Having a strong grasp of the city culture and things to do in LA
Managing an editorial calendar
Overseeing the creation and strategy of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X and Secret LA newsletters
Managing a small but growing team of enthusiastic local writers, video producers, and social media creatives
Liaising with the Secret NYC team and regional Managing Editor/ Executive Editor
Analyzing metrics and content performance daily
Being the final owner of the city's growth and its unique voice

Requirements:

5+ years' experience working for a newsroom, content agency, creative agency, or digital media property
Native writing and speaking level in English
Strong attention to detail, critical-thinking skills, and problem-solving abilities
Leadership skills comfortable managing a team, and supporting them to help achieve their goals
Experience managing a team of creatives while still meeting individual goals and project deadlines
Understanding of SEO best practices and keyword targeting
Hands-on knowledge and understanding of the current social media landscape
Strong understanding of digital media trends
Comfortable identifying and tracking relevant community KPIs
Expertise with WordPress & Canva and/or other software such as data analysis like GA4, Meta Insights, etc.

Nice to have:

Experience writing search-optimized copy
Good feel for what makes content popular online and offline
Regularly stays up-to-date with digital technology trends and emerging patterns in media
