We’re expanding our team and are looking for more Nurses to join our charity. You’ll be joining an award-winning, certified Outstanding team, who do all they can to empower children and families to experience as much life as possible. This will be perfect for you if you are looking for a part-time role - Minimum hours 22.5 hours on a variety of shifts.
Job Responsibility:
Put the experience of children and families at the heart of all you do
Understand care needs and get to know what's important to each child
Focus on what children can do, rather than their limitations
Support children to experience things they may never have thought possible
Provide care for children at The Ark or in the community, allowing parents and carers time for themselves
Join nursing team to provide 24/7 on-call symptom assessment/management service for babies, children and young people
Provide end-of-life care as a guiding reassuring presence
Provide essential symptom management
Give choice of preferred place of care and preferred place of death
Create memories to enable as good a death as possible
Deliver high quality and effective training to other team members and family members
Provide direct line management support to Band 5 Nurses and Band 3 & 4 Specialist Carers
Requirements:
Experienced Band 5 Nurse with palliative care experience ready to step up, or Band 6 Nurse already working in palliative care or with previous palliative care experience
At least one year's experience caring for children with complex care needs
Experience managing a nursing team, or experience of supporting students, junior staff nurses or support workers
Excellent clinical and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively and lead a multi-skilled team, or demonstrable leadership experience with support from a lead nurse
Share core values of kindness, excellence and courage
Thrive working autonomously and confident to deliver care alone in the community
Creativity and play central to approach to care
Ability to build long-term relationships with children and families
Enhanced DBS disclosure with Child Barring required
