Middlesbrough Borough Council's Children's Services is seeking a skilled and compassionate Children's Social Worker to join our dynamic Safeguarding, Care Planning and Children with Disabilities Team. We are committed to providing high-quality support and protection to children with disabilities, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and positive development are at the forefront of everything we do.
Job Responsibility:
Safeguarding: Conducting thorough assessments to identify and address potential risks to children with disabilities, ensuring their safety and protection from harm
Care Planning: Developing individualized care plans tailored to the unique needs and wishes of children with disabilities, ensuring they receive appropriate support and interventions
Collaboration: Working closely with families, other professionals (such as healthcare professionals, education staff, and therapists), and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to the child's care
Advocacy: Advocating for the needs and rights of children with disabilities, ensuring they have access to the necessary services, resources, and opportunities
Direct Work with Children: Building strong relationships with children with disabilities, providing emotional support, guidance, and advocacy to help them thrive
Supporting Transitions: Supporting children with disabilities through significant transitions, such as moving between placements, entering adulthood, or accessing new services
Promoting Inclusion: Working to ensure children with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate in their communities and reach their full potential
Requirements:
Social Work Qualification: You must be a qualified Social Worker
Social Care England Registration: Essential for this role
Updated DBS: Essential for working with children and families
Experience in Working with Children with Disabilities: Demonstrated experience working with children with disabilities and a strong understanding of their unique needs, rights, and challenges
Strong Assessment and Case Management Skills: Proven ability to conduct comprehensive assessments, develop effective care plans, and manage complex cases effectively
Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, other professionals, and stakeholders
Commitment to Safeguarding Children: Passion for protecting children and ensuring their rights and well-being are paramount
