Position Overview: We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Children in Need Social Worker to join our dynamic team on a contract basis, offering an attractive rate of £35 per hour. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in assessing the needs of children and families, coordinating services, and implementing tailored support plans to address complex issues and promote positive outcomes.
Job Responsibility
Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify strengths, needs, and risks, utilizing evidence-based tools and frameworks
Develop and implement holistic support plans in collaboration with children, families, and relevant professionals, ensuring that interventions are child-centered and culturally sensitive
Provide direct support and intervention to children and families, addressing issues such as safeguarding concerns, family breakdown, substance misuse, domestic violence, and mental health difficulties
Advocate for the rights and best interests of children and families, representing them in meetings, case conferences, and court proceedings as required
Liaise with external agencies and partner organizations to coordinate services and access resources to meet the needs of children and families effectively
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, reports, and documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and organizational policies
Work collaboratively with colleagues, including social work assistants, team managers, and other professionals, to ensure coordinated and integrated support for children and families
Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and training sessions to enhance professional development and practice knowledge.
Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration (e.g., HCPC)
Proven experience working with children and families in need within a social services or child welfare setting
Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to identify needs, risks, and protective factors and develop appropriate support plans
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues
Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection, safeguarding, and children in need
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating resilience, empathy, and professionalism in challenging situations
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel within the community (if required).
