Job Description

RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT WORKER - CHILDREN'S HOME. Support young people aged 10-17 living in residential care, helping them feel safe, supported and able to reach their full potential.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide practical, emotional and behavioural support to young people
  • Act as a positive role model and build warm, trusting relationships
  • Follow care plans, update records and contribute to reviews and meetings
  • Support daily routines including cooking, cleaning and household tasks
  • Help young people develop confidence, self‑control and life skills
  • Offer 1:1 support, advocacy and guidance during times of stress or difficulty
  • Encourage education, activities, community involvement and healthy routines
  • Work collaboratively within the staff team and attend team meetings
  • Maintain safeguarding, equal opportunities and professional standards at all times
  • Keep accurate written records and financial logs
  • Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team culture
  • Follow all policies, procedures, health & safety and safeguarding guidelines
  • Engage with external agencies and support services when needed

Requirements

  • Ability to work shifts including early/late shifts, weekends, sleep‑ins and on‑call
  • Willingness to adapt to rota changes when required
  • Full participation in training, supervision and team development
  • Ability to drive company vehicles (if licence held)
  • Enhanced DBS required
