Job Description:

Working 36.5 hours per week, the Children’s Commissioning Team is offering the role of a full-time Placements Officer within the Children’s Placements Team. As a Placements Officer you will provide a placement finding service for Children in Care. You will promote the wellbeing of children while also working on the principle of Best Value.

Requirements:

  • Responsibility for managing and organising a caseload of children who require planned & emergency placements into residential, fostering or supported accommodation provisions
  • Familiarity with, and ability to work within the legislation and guidance governing the placements of children in care, preferably as a social worker, residential worker or in a previous safeguarding role
  • Proficiency in the use of IT, ability to interrogate multiple applications, able to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Required to maintain effective and concise case recording and update various information systems, relating to placements
  • Ability to negotiate appropriate levels of service provision considering best values principles and promote good working relationships with internal & external professionals
  • Participation in a duty system
  • Requirement to be office based when required
  • Must have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK (sponsorship not supported)

  • Undertaking assessments including safeguarding and vulnerability to determine the appropriateness of placements for children and young people entering the secure estate
  • Ensure appropriate action is taken by the Court Team after each Court session to meet the requirements of the bench
  • Maintenance of clear, concise written records, and updating the Youth Justice Service electronic database and Youth Justice Service E-records
  • Liaison with other agencies involved in the court process, including the presentation and dissemination of Youth Justice Service information, formal reports, and interventions to Judges and Magistrates
  • Production of placement information and post custody reports within the asset plus framework as required by the Youth Justice Board
  • Assisting with monitoring and reviewing the team’s workload to enhance overall performance aligned with key performance measures
  • Work on Bank Holidays and Saturdays on a rota basis
