Job Description

St Marks Freshwater Church is a vibrant, welcoming Christian community located in the heart of Freshwater that seeks to see lives transformed through Jesus. We are seeking a passionate Children's Pastor to lead our growing kids ministry. This role is focused on creating a vibrant, Christ-centred ministry where children are discipled in faith, leaders and parents are equipped and empowered, and kids' outreach becomes a meaningful pathway into the life of the church.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of Kids Church on Sundays, creating an engaging, safe and fun environment where kids are eager to learn God's word and love Sundays
  • Recruit, train and empower kids ministry leaders, in partnership with families and the wider church family, equipping them to effectively disciple children
  • Oversight of the Kids Talk team, including training and planning
  • Regular and effective communication with parents and the wider church, celebrating God's work in the kids ministry space
  • Ensure compliance with all Sydney Anglican Diocese Safe Ministry requirements to create a child safe environment
  • Overall direction and leadership of Dynamites (Playgroup), seeking to engage non-Christian families with the church community and the gospel
  • Lead and oversee kids outreach events throughout the year such as pupil-free days, kids clubs, seeking to connect new families to church life
  • Supporting the work of scripture in schools and the positive relationship between Harbord Public and St Marks. Teaching around 2 or 3 classes a week

Requirements

  • A genuine and growing relationship with Jesus Christ as demonstrated through character, lifestyle and convictions
  • A leader who can think strategically, cast vision, lead leaders, who is a self-starter, a strong communicator, warm, a team player and has fun
  • A degree in theology and demonstrated commitment to Reformed Evangelical Christian values
  • Previous experience in pastoral ministry with proven ability in establishing, training and leading teams and their leaders
  • Skilled and passionate in children's ministry, evangelism, and intergenerational ministry
