Children's Home Carer

• Day-to-day interaction and care of up to three children with a range of complex needs
• Work alongside children to help them achieve their specific individual needs and improve their future outcomes
• Apply relevant legislation, policies, procedures and guidance relating to residential childcare
• Work alongside other professionals (e.g., schools, therapists) to provide a consistent team approach to manage care & risk
• Attend meetings with children or represent the team at meetings
• Make sound judgements in the moment concerning safeguarding and general safety and wellbeing with support from a senior staff member

• A QCF Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare or equivalent qualification or a willingness to work towards it is essential
• A verifiable pass in English and Maths
• Good listening skills and ability to remain calm and focussed under pressure
• Ability to effectively engage and build relationships with children
• Understanding of the issues and pressures affecting children today
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with other agencies, parents, colleagues and children
• Good written / IT skills to write contact sheets and reports
• Ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English
• Full driving license
• Right to Work in the UK
