Job Description

The Children's Continuing Care Team at GWH provides direct clinical care and support to named children and young people with complex medical needs in the community. Being part of the team may involve meeting a child's health needs in their own home at night to enable families to rest, or accompanying and caring for a child at school to enable education.

Job Responsibility

  • To provide skilled high-quality care to children and young people with complex medical needs, in the home or community setting
  • To carry out personal care and delegated clinical tasks, providing support for children with complex health needs and those dependent on technology such as ventilators, feeding tubes and oxygen
  • To follow individualised care plans developed by the nursing team, having gained competency through an intensive and on-going training programme and with support and guidance from registered nurses

Requirements

  • One of the following: Level 3 (SCQF - 6): City and Guilds 3
  • NVQ 3
  • BTEC National Diploma
  • Experience equivalent to the above qualifications
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Math's or equivalent
  • Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps to the Apprenticeship Standard for Senior Health Care Support Worker), or equivalent experience together with Level 2 qualification in childcare, Health and Social Care or equivalent and working towards Level 3
  • Demonstrable experience of working with children and young people in a healthcare, nursery, respite, education or social care setting
