Job Responsibility

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the children's residential service, ensuring high standards of care and safety
  • Oversee the development and implementation of individual care plans tailored to each child's needs
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures governing children's residential care
  • Supervise and support a team of care staff, fostering a positive and professional working environment
  • Conduct regular staff appraisals, training, and development to maintain a skilled and motivated team
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with children, families, social workers, and external agencies
  • Manage the service's budget, resources, and administrative tasks efficiently
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and best practice within the service
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children and staff at all times

Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People's Workforce (or equivalent) is essential
  • Level 5 in Leadership and Management is highly desirable
  • Proven experience in managing a children's residential service or similar setting
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building effective relationships with children, families, and professionals
  • Ability to manage budgets and administrative responsibilities efficiently
  • Resilience, empathy, and a genuine passion for making a positive difference in young people's lives
  • Relevant certifications such as First Aid, Safeguarding, and Manual Handling are required
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Nice to have

Level 5 in Leadership and Management is highly desirable
