Job Description

A unique and rewarding opportunity to join Cranstoun’s North Somerset Domestic Abuse Support Service as a Children and Young Persons Support Worker. This role will deliver trauma-informed support to children and young people affected by familial domestic abuse through one-to-one and group interventions in schools, community settings and other outreach environments.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver trauma-informed support to children and young people affected by familial domestic abuse through one-to-one and group interventions in schools, community settings and other outreach environments
  • Assess risk and need
  • Develop support and safety plans
  • Work closely with schools, children's social care, adult domestic abuse services and other partner agencies
  • Coordinate support
  • Manage risk
  • Promote safeguarding
  • Improve outcomes for children, young people and their families
  • Maintain accurate case records
  • Contribute to service monitoring
  • Help raise awareness of domestic abuse and healthy relationships

Requirements

  • Experience of direct work with children and young people
  • Experience with safeguarding and multi-agency working
  • Ability to assess risk and need
  • Ability to develop support and safety plans
  • Ability to deliver flexible, age-appropriate interventions
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A child-centred and trauma-informed approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-agency team
