Job Description:

The Childcare Center Director provides strategic leadership and daily operational oversight for our childcare program. Initially, the Director will be directly involved with the planning, set up and execution of opening a new childcare program. They will contribute and assist with the licensing submission and approval process. The Director will be responsible for maintaining a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment while ensuring absolute compliance with all applicable regulations. This leadership role is crucial to the overall success of the center and offers an exciting and unique opportunity to make an impact from the creation of the center. The center is expecting to be licensed for up to 150 children, infants through preschool ages. Experience in a similar Director role preferred. Assume other duties assigned as needed.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist with design and setting up of the Child Care Center while maintaining full compliance with Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) licensing standards prior to and post opening
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for DHHS licensing inspections and fire/health department visits
  • Ensure all staff meet Nebraska’s "Safe with You" and background check requirements before working with children
  • Always uphold mandated staff-to-child ratios (1:4 for infants for example)
  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a team of dedicated early childhood educators
  • Conduct and facilitate professional development
  • Foster a collaborative culture that aligns with the Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines and Sandhills Global
  • Oversee the implementation of age-appropriate curricula that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development
  • Ensure the facility is well-equipped with educational materials that meet state physical standards
  • Maintain accurate records for children and staff
  • Follow all Sandhills Global processes and procedures as directed
  • Lead tours for prospective families and manage the enrollment pipeline
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress and center updates

Requirements:

  • Education – one option must be met as per the DHHS qualifications (Title 391, Section 3-006.04): Bachelor’s degree with major in Early Childhood Education, Education or Child/Youth Development
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any field AND 6 credit hours in ECE or Child Development
  • Associate degree in ECE or a related field
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
  • High School Diploma/GED with 3,000 hours of verifiable experience in organized group activities for children and a positive reference
  • Must be at least 19 years of age
  • Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification
  • Completion of Nebraska DHHS Director Orientation within the first 3 months of hire (if not already completed)
  • Pass a comprehensive Nebraska and FBI Fingerprint Background Check
  • Prior Childcare Center Director experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently and communicate within a team environment

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • In Office Position. Ability to commute daily to local office is required
