Job Description:

Newcastle Council are looking for a Child Protection Lead Practitioner to join their team. In this pivotal role, you will be the expert voice on thresholds of need and risk. You won't just be managing cases; you'll be shaping the quality of practice across the entire Children's Services system-including both Council-led services and external partners.

Job Responsibility:

  • Convene and chair Strategy Meetings and Child Protection Conferences
  • Act as a specialist resource, providing guidance, direction, and "co-working" support to both social work qualified and non-qualified practitioners
  • Use your expertise to challenge drift or delay through formal Escalation Processes
  • Formulate and deliver specialist multi-agency training to elevate safeguarding practice across the region
  • Contribute to practice reviews and quality assurance activities
