Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated Child Development Specialist to join our non-profit team in Los Angeles, California. In this long-term contract position, you will play a vital role in supporting early childhood programs for children from birth to kindergarten. This position involves working closely with families and Family Child Care Providers to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and resources that promote the well-being and development of children.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver early childhood services aligned with Early Head Start standards in Family Child Care settings
  • Accurately document and maintain records related to education, family services, disabilities, mental health, nutrition, and health
  • Collaborate with families to establish and achieve goals through family partnership agreements
  • Build strong, culturally sensitive relationships with families and Family Child Care Providers
  • Connect families with community resources addressing health, nutrition, mental health, social services, and crisis intervention
  • Conduct regular site visits to Family Child Care Providers and prepare detailed reports following each visit
  • Provide coaching, training, and skill development opportunities to Family Child Care Providers
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of services and programs to ensure high-quality care and support
  • Act as a liaison between families and external services to facilitate resource access and coordination

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children in early childhood education or family services
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and early childhood best practices
  • Ability to develop culturally responsive relationships with families and caregivers
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate documentation
  • Willingness to conduct home or site visits as required
  • Familiarity with family partnership agreements and early childhood service coordination

Nice to have:

  • Bilingual skills are a plus but not mandatory
  • Knowledge of relevant systems, such as ADP Workforce Now or HRMS, is an advantage
