The Child Care Worker at New Beginnings Young Parent Daycare and at the Eagle’s Nest Early Learning Centre will plan and implement a developmentally appropriate childcare program, offering a nurturing environment for the care of children, encouraging their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth. This position will require knowledge of the Early Learning Framework and will work in close cooperation with the Child Care Supervisor, school staff and other Child Care Workers.
Job Responsibility:
Working with the children, family, staff, and supervisor to provide an engaging early childhood experience
Carrying out developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for the children, which may include indoor/outdoor, and active/quiet activities
Attending to the children’s physical needs which may include toileting, eating, sleeping, and other basic needs
Attending to the children’s psychological and emotional needs which may include cuddling, rocking, and holding the child
Providing a healthy, safe, caring, and nurturing environment
Administering First Aid when necessary
Observing and removing potential hazards
Building and maintaining relationships with the parents/caregivers, either in person or over the phone
Using the Early Learning Framework and emergent curriculum to provide an environment that reflects the interests of the child
Requirements:
Infant/Toddler License to Practice or Early Childhood Education Certificate (ECE) with the expectation of completing an Infant/Toddler Educator Certificate
Emergency First Aid certificate with CPR level C is required
One year experience providing care to infants and toddlers
Knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework
The ability to collaborate and work with family, staff, and community partners to provide a holistic and nurturing environment for the child
The ability to adapt and engage, which reflects the needs and interest of the child
The ability to work in an environment where there is a high level of noise and distraction from children
The ability to pay close attention to the child’s physical and emotional needs
Good organizational and problem-solving skills
Good relationship building skills
able to build positive and supportive relationships with parents and children
Knowledge of age-appropriate group process and facilitation techniques
The ability to be involved in direct delivery of activities which may include moderate physical activity of walking, standing, bending, and lifting children up to 40 lbs
A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is a condition of employment
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
