The Chief US Correspondent role is a senior journalist who will lead the Telegraph’s reporting in the US. The correspondent will help set the agenda for the DC bureau and produce high quality reporting for The Telegraph’s subscriber base and a wider global audience.
Job Responsibility:
Leading The Telegraph’s coverage of the White House and US politics
Reporting on a range of other agenda-setting topics across the US
Breaking exclusives, writing features and helming the biggest stories
Planning coverage of future events and longer term projects
Focusing on digital storytelling
Growing readership in the US through original journalism
Helping develop a team of reporters across US
Readiness to travel elsewhere in the US and the region
Requirements:
Significant journalistic experience for a newspaper or website
Significant knowledge, and preferably first hand experience, of US affairs is essential
Good contacts in Washington DC and across the US is desirable
Interest in and knowledge of multimedia storytelling
Previous experience of political reporting is desirable
Experienced in both breaking news and working on longer pieces, projects, comments and features
Ability to keep calm under pressure and work autonomously in a remote location
Knowledge and experience of digital publishing preferred
Able to work to tight deadlines and work under pressure
Leadership and management experience/ability preferred
Nice to have:
Good contacts in Washington DC and across the US is desirable
Previous experience of political reporting is desirable
