Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO). The role is working for an established global insurer in our clients London underwriting team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in underwriting, operations and commercial insurance.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop and execute the underwriting strategy to achieve company goals and objectives
  • Lead and mentor a team of underwriters, providing guidance and support in complex risk assessment and pricing decisions
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of underwriting processes with overall business operations
  • Oversee the development and implementation of underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Monitor underwriting performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and innovation in underwriting practices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in underwriting and commercial insurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful underwriting strategies
  • Strong knowledge of underwriting operations, risk assessment, and pricing models
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of industry regulations and compliance requirements
