Chief of Staff to partner closely with CEO and serve as the organization's strategic and operational architect. This is a senior leadership role responsible for strengthening organizational effectiveness, operationalizing strategy, and ensuring the CEO and Leadership Team are equipped to make high-quality decisions in service of Moonshot's mission.
Job Responsibility:
Strategic Planning & Organizational Effectiveness (45%): Lead annual and quarterly planning and budgeting processes
Build and maintain the operating cadence for the organization
Establish and maintain decision-making frameworks
Codify and improve how teams collaborate
Assess whether adjustments to the organizational structure are needed
Lead equitable, transparent change-management processes
Design and refine the performance management structure and cadence
Build internal communication systems
Develop and maintain knowledge-management systems, SOPs, and decision logs
Lead implementation, adoption, and optimization of organizational systems
CEO Partnership & Executive Leadership Support (30%): Serve as the CEO's strategic thought partner
Take ownership of major internal processes and rhythms
Own design and facilitation of agendas for leadership retreats, board meetings, stepbacks, and all-team meetings
Prepare briefings and synthesize information
Establish quality-assurance processes
Filter and prioritize incoming requests
Facilitate alignment across the Leadership Team
Represent the CEO internally as needed
Lead preparation for board meetings
Strategic Initiatives, Business Development & Opportunity Assessment (15%): Build financial models and evaluation frameworks
Prepare analysis, insights, and materials for CEO partnership, fundraising, and external meetings
Optimize data and CRM (Salesforce) systems
Development & Funder Operations Support (10%): Streamline and coordinate development operations
Lead development operations, including grant timelines, internal workflows, reporting coordination, and compliance
Coordinate stewardship workflows and use donor system data
Ensure impact stories, data, and organizational materials are accurate and compelling
Requirements:
7+ years in operations, organizational strategy, project management, or organizational effectiveness in mission-driven environments
Proven ability to translate strategy into actionable plans, clear roles, decision pathways, and resourcing models
Experience building organizational infrastructure such as hiring, onboarding, performance systems, planning cycles, and internal communication systems
Strong change-management skills that center equity, transparency, and psychological safety
High EQ, with the ability to anticipate needs, strengthen relationships, and build trust across diverse teams
Thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments—comfortable navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and continuous iteration
Build financial models and evaluation frameworks to assess ROI, guide strategic decisions, and ensure new opportunities align with mission, capacity, and strategic priorities
Develop evaluation criteria and decision-making frameworks that support data-driven choices
Use data to prioritize, sequence, and resource work across competing demands
Lead strategic budget planning with cross-functional alignment
