Job Description

Babylist is seeking a strategic Chief of Staff to amplify the impact of our CFO/COO. In this role, you will enable operational excellence across the finance function by driving high-impact projects, coordinating key leadership and board-level communications, and providing leverage on strategic initiatives ranging from board materials preparation, to new business opportunities research, to due diligence support. You will work directly with senior executives and cross-functional leaders, ensuring alignment and execution on the most important priorities for the CFO/COO organization. This is an individual contributor role with significant influence and visibility across the company. It’s ideal for someone with a consulting or banking background (e.g. former Engagement Manager+ or equivalent) who is now ready to step into a high-growth, high-impact operational leadership role.

Job Responsibility

  • Act as a thought partner and strategic advisor to the CFO, supporting day-to-day priorities and long-term planning
  • Lead development and coordination of content for board meetings, audit committee meetings, and executive presentations
  • Support the CFO in preparation for investor calls by researching investor portfolios, recent deals, and stated investment philosophies, and distilling insights into clear, actionable pre-read materials
  • Assess potential business development and M&A opportunities, supporting strategic evaluations and due diligence to accelerate growth
  • Lead project management for complex, cross-functional initiatives on behalf of the CFO, bringing structure to ambiguous work, coordinating senior stakeholders, and ensuring critical efforts move forward with clear ownership and follow-through
  • Partner closely with the CFO in interactions with banks and external advisors, coordinating materials, managing inbound requests, and exercising judgment to prioritize what matters most in diligence and readiness-style work
  • Develop first-pass drafts of financial and strategic materials, acting as an editor and integrator of stakeholder input
  • Serve as a project lead for special cross-functional efforts that don’t sit clearly in existing functional teams
  • Drive effective operating rhythms across the G&A and Operations organization by improving information flow, decision clarity, and alignment on company priorities

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in top-tier management consulting (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain) or investment banking with clear ownership of complex analyses, executive deliverables, and multi-stakeholder workstreams
  • Effectively manage senior stakeholders by discerning underlying objectives, not just stated requests, and translating them into clear, actionable direction
  • Demonstrated strength in financial and business problem-solving, including building structured frameworks, evaluating tradeoffs, and forming recommendations under ambiguity
  • Proven ability to partner closely with senior executives, synthesizing inputs across finance, product, operations, and legal into coherent points of view
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to quickly develop fluency in new industries, business models, and performance drivers
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • comfortable drafting board- and investor-ready materials, including memos, narratives, and presentation decks
  • High ownership mindset with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and cross-functional dependencies
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive financial, strategic, and organizational information
  • builds trust and credibility quickly
  • Thrives in fast-paced, high-expectation environments with a bias toward action, strong emotional intelligence, and executive presence

What we offer

  • Competitive salary with equity and bonus opportunities
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement savings plan with company matching and flexible spending accounts
  • Generous paid parental leave and PTO
  • Remote work stipend to set up your office
  • Perks for physical, mental, and emotional health, parenting, childcare, and financial planning
