Job Description:

The town of Braintree seeks a Chief of Police to provide leadership and expertise in the administration of the town’s police functions, including protecting life, safeguarding property and enhancing the quality of life within the town. The Braintree Police department has 89 sworn personnel, one Animal Control Officer and 21 civilian employees, 10 of whom are public safety dispatchers, plus 27 special police officers.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide leadership and expertise in the administration of the town’s police functions, including protecting life, safeguarding property and enhancing the quality of life within the town
  • Developing, managing, and overseeing the Police department’s budget
  • Managing the department’s facilities and equipment
  • Establishing policies, procedures and general orders within the Department

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in a law enforcement agency
  • Five years of experience in an administrative or command position

Nice to have:

  • Master’s degree or advanced training in law enforcement management
  • Reputation for building and maintaining community trust
