Chief of Police

• Provide leadership and expertise in the administration of the town’s police functions, including protecting life, safeguarding property and enhancing the quality of life within the town
• Developing, managing, and overseeing the Police department’s budget
• Managing the department’s facilities and equipment
• Establishing policies, procedures and general orders within the Department

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in a law enforcement agency
• Five years of experience in an administrative or command position

• Master’s degree or advanced training in law enforcement management
• Reputation for building and maintaining community trust
• Significant experience with community policing
• Strong investigative skills
• Proven track record of fiscal responsibility and collective bargaining practices
• Demonstrated commitment to mentoring and advancing department personnel through professional development and leading by example
