Job Description

Chief Manchester United Correspondent to lead coverage of one of the biggest sporting institutions in the world, for the Manchester Evening News and our national brands including Mirror, Star and Express. This is a flagship role in UK sports journalism, sitting at the centre of our football coverage and trusted by millions of readers every day.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead Manchester United coverage across MEN and Reach's national titles
  • Deliver breaking news, exclusives and agenda-setting journalism with speed, accuracy and authority
  • Produce high-value Premium content including deep analysis, investigations, long-reads and insider columns designed to attract and retain subscribers
  • Multi-format storytelling across written articles, video explainers, live blogs, podcasts and live Q&As
  • On-the-ground reporting, travelling domestically and internationally with the first team
  • Maintain a strong public presence as the face and voice of our United coverage across video, social and live events
  • Build trusted relationships with sources across the club, agents and the wider football ecosystem
  • Provide mentorship and leadership for junior reporters
  • Work closely with editors, producers and designers across Reach to deliver standout journalism at scale, while upholding the highest editorial and legal standards
