Job Description:

Chief Information Officer role at HSBC Korea covering IT service provision, innovation, risk mitigation, compliance, and stakeholder collaboration. Responsibilities include leading IT strategy implementation, managing change programs, and partnering with business lines and regional CIOs.

Job Responsibility:

  • Partnering and advising Business heads and their Management Teams on technology decisions
  • Accountable for the delivery of IT Services in Korea
  • Accountable for the shaping, evaluation and value assessment of the overall Change Portfolio for Korea
  • Leading a team of IT specialists
  • Ensure Korea IT teams apply Group Standards
  • Ensure Operational Risks and Controls are implemented and effective
  • Drive innovation from a technological perspective within Korea
  • Oversee system security and ensure that Korea is not exposed to critical risks from an IT point of view
  • Record, build remediation plans and organize appropriate governance
  • Ensure that all technology decisions align to appropriate governance and architecture Standards
  • Review and maintain all systems to HSBC standards
  • Finance and planning leads to budget for information technology needs and monitor/maintain this budget
  • Establish relevant metrics to facilitate reporting and decision making
  • Understand the local regulatory restrictions including the need for onshore systems due to personal data laws in the country
  • Understanding the business and technology strategy
  • Translating the business strategy into an IT strategy that enables business to realize its objectives
  • Cultivate and maintain the relationship between business and IT
  • Advise the business heads on all technology related matters
  • Partner with business, Business managers, Global Asset class IT heads and Regional
  • Responsible for providing support to Regional CIO when necessary, on matters relating to relevant regulatory and Board relationships at a regional level
  • Consulted on execution of GB/GF strategy at market level
  • Responsible for collaborating with peer Market Heads, GB/GF Business, and other senior IT Personnel to implement GB/GF goals in Korea, policy, expense, and regulatory constraints, in line with Technology strategy, priorities, and budgets
  • Responsible for leading and influencing the GB/GF IT Teams to meet functional goals in Korea, and overseeing delivery of the portfolio to time, cost, and quality targets
  • Responsible for ensuring that all Korea demand is captured and effectively prioritized within the GB/GF global portfolio
  • Responsible for coordinating all Korea input into the annual planning cycle
  • Responsible for governing all GB/GF program portfolio in Korea ensuring the status and impacts to time, cost, and quality are reported into Asia & Middle East International Markets CIO
  • Responsible for delivery of GB/GF IT Transformation, Agile and DevOps adoption in Korea to realize savings as per targets in partnership with GB/GF Business
  • Responsible for successful delivery of key GB/GF change programs in Korea
  • Responsible for ensuring deliverables are supportive and in compliance with Regional and GB/GF target state architecture
  • Accountable to both Asia & Middle East International Markets CIO and GB/GF CIO for ensuring resilient, high-quality services are being delivered within Korea
  • Responsible for coordinating regional activities required to mitigate service issues
  • Responsible for service performance of end-to-end services delivered within the market
  • Consulted on delivery status of overall service/application health for Korea owned applications, and expert advice provided/facilitated from wider GB/GF as necessary
  • Consulted on status of issues relating to critical IT incidents for Korea owned applications, and expert advice provided/facilitated from wider GB/GF as necessary
  • Consulted on problem management and root cause analysis related to Korea owned applications where applicable, and expert advice provided/facilitated from wider GB/GF as necessary

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely, suitable for all levels across the HSBC group
  • Gravitas and ability to interact with and coach senior executives
  • Outstanding relationship management and influencing skills
  • Practical experience in the leadership and management of an engineering function most focused on the delivery of operations technologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to influence, lead and drive teams to deliver
  • Demonstrate good judgement and a high level of communication skills to achieve effective stakeholder management
  • Knowledge of technology and technology trends, and the ability to provide technology consultancy to senior business heads
  • Experience in planning and managing significant expenditure in a complex organization
  • Ability to work in a complex, matrix organization
  • Ability to balance the needs of the business, technology, Group and staff
  • Successful relationship management including senior stakeholder management
  • Strong communicator with the ability to adapt delivery as appropriate for various audiences
  • Fluency both English and Korean
