We are partnering with a high-growth luxury retail & wholesale brand in New York City seeking a Chief Financial Officer to serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and build the financial foundation for the company’s next phase of growth. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a finance executive who enjoys building from the ground up. The CFO will establish best-in-class accounting and finance processes, recruit and develop a high-performing team, and play a key role in shaping business strategy as the company continues to scale its retail and wholesale presence. The role requires someone comfortable operating both strategically and tactically — from developing financial models and infrastructure to partnering with leadership on growth initiatives and operational decision-making. This position is 5 days per week in-office in NYC and offers the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on a growing, design-driven brand.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as a trusted advisor and right hand to the CEO on financial strategy, growth initiatives, and operational decision-making
Partner with executive leadership to drive business expansion across retail, wholesale, and eCommerce channels
Develop financial insights that support pricing strategy, margin optimization, and inventory planning
Build long-term strategic plans and financial roadmaps aligned with company growth objectives
Establish the accounting and finance infrastructure, processes, and internal controls needed to scale
Build and lead the accounting and finance team, hiring key roles across accounting, FP&A, and operations
Implement scalable systems and tools (ERP, reporting, inventory tracking) to support business growth
Create best practices for financial reporting, close processes, and data accuracy
Own budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling across multiple revenue streams
Oversee monthly close process, financial statement preparation, and management reporting
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity planning
Deliver reporting and analysis to support executive decision-making
Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and Merchandising teams
Provide insight into inventory management, cost structure, and margin improvement opportunities
Support vendor negotiations and key commercial initiatives
Build KPIs and dashboards to track performance across retail and wholesale channels
Help scale the organization through periods of rapid growth and operational change
Develop processes that allow the business to expand efficiently without sacrificing financial rigor
Prepare the company for future strategic opportunities
Requirements:
15+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience
Experience in luxury goods, retail, wholesale, consumer products, or eCommerce strongly preferred
Proven track record of building or transforming accounting and finance functions
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Experience hiring, mentoring, and leading teams
Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a growing environment
Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
Experience implementing ERP systems or financial tools is a plus
