Experienced Chief Engineer to join the leadership team on a 12-month fixed term contract from April 2026, responsible for the strategic and operational management of all engineering, maintenance and asset performance across the hotel. This role is critical to ensuring our property continues to operate safely, efficiently and at the exceptional standards expected of a luxury brand.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee building systems, preventative maintenance programs, compliance, project, and asset lifecycle management
Lead and manage the hotel’s Engineering department
Drive a proactive preventative maintenance strategy to protect asset quality and reduce downtime
Ensure full compliance with workplace health & safety, building regulations and statutory requirements
Oversee plant, equipment and building systems, including HVAC, electrical, hydraulics and fire systems
Manage external contractors, service agreements and engineering budgets
Lead capital works, refurbishment projects and asset improvement initiatives
Work closely with operational leaders to ensure engineering supports seamless guest experiences
Develop and mentor the engineering team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement
Support energy management, sustainability and efficiency initiatives
Respond to guest and operational issues with urgency, professionalism and practical solutions
Requirements:
Proven experience in a Chief Engineer or senior engineering leadership role, ideally within hotels, resorts or complex facilities
Strong knowledge of building services, preventative maintenance systems and compliance requirements
Demonstrated experience managing capital works and contractor relationships
Strong leadership capability with experience developing high-performing teams
Sound financial and budget management skills
Strong reporting and systems skills, with the ability to manage maintenance trackers and confidently use the full Microsoft 365 suite, particularly Excel
Trade qualification or engineering certification (highly regarded)
Full AU working rights
Ability to work an average of 38 hours per week
