We are seeking a Chief Engineer (Refrigeration Engineer) to take full ownership of the technical operations and maintenance at one of their sophisticated industrial facilities. Job Responsibility:
Oversee the expert operation and maintenance of high-capacity ammonia refrigeration systems, air compression units, and critical fire/life safety auxiliaries
Ensure absolute compliance with the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) Act, alongside all applicable provincial and federal engineering codes
Execute precision preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all warehouse assets to minimize downtime and optimize performance
Uphold rigorous adherence to internal standards and global certifications, including OHSA, BRCGS, and HACCP protocols
Utilize advanced maintenance management software (Guide TI) to maintain meticulous inspection logs and data-driven maintenance records
Partner with multi-disciplinary maintenance teams (building, mobile equipment, and refrigeration) to ensure seamless facility operations
Act as the technical lead for emergency requests, providing rapid troubleshooting and resolution for plant utility issues
Requirements:
Valid Stationary Engineer 'A' – Refrigeration License (Class A) issued by the TSSA is mandatory
Proven experience operating and managing industrial ammonia refrigeration systems
Previous experience serving as a Chief Refrigeration Operator or in a senior technical leadership capacity
Strong analytical skills and sound judgment to troubleshoot complex utility issues
Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to high-standard maintenance and regulatory documentation
Ability to manage priorities effectively while fostering a culture of teamwork, initiative, and open communication
A resourceful self-starter who takes ownership of plant integrity and safety protocols
Comfortable working in cold-storage environments (ranging from 4°C to -25°C) and capable of working at heights
Fit for duty with the ability to lift up to 22 kg (50 lbs)
Flexibility to remain on-call to ensure 24/7 operational continuity and emergency response
