Job Description

The Company currently have a vacancy for a Chief Engineer in our SOV fleet. Start date 9th March 2026. Permanent position. 4 week on / 4 weeks off rotation.

Job Responsibility

  • Responsible for the technical status of the ship, its machinery and propulsion systems
  • Ensure all equipment installed onboard is in an operational condition
  • Ensure the vessel complies with relevant rules and regulations
  • Carry out the safe, efficient and economic operation and maintenance of all machinery, systems and specialist equipment
  • Ensure an effective and efficient watch is maintained in the engine room
  • Report defects via company approved planned maintenance system
  • Update status and content of defects within company approved planned maintenance system
  • Requisition stores, spares and equipment for the Engine Department
  • Delegate tasks to Engine Room staff
  • Actively promote and progress the company Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Policy
  • Actively promote inter-departmental communications

Requirements

  • Have worked in a Chief Engineer capacity previously
  • Hold a UK CoC / UK FSE
  • Non-UK candidates must be willing to apply for the UK equivalent certificate of competency (UK FSE)

  • Act as subject matter expert for mission-critical systems (DP/station-keeping, diesel-electric/power management, walk-to-work/gangway systems, hotel/POB critical systems, and transfer craft where fitted)
