Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Design Engineer, Electrical to join our team . This is a key leadership role within our Tissue business line, responsible for driving the design and technical excellence of electrical control systems for our paper, board, and tissue machine lines.

Job Responsibility

  • Act as the primary engineering interface for sales, project management, and customers, ensuring clear communication and technical alignment throughout project delivery
  • Lead the collection, clarification, and dissemination of all initial engineering information (contracts, specifications, standards) to kick-start engineering activities
  • Take ownership for the creation and execution of Engineering Quality Assurance (QA) plans, ensuring compliance with established processes
  • Provide technical leadership within the TM Automation engineering group, guiding project teams, managing resources, and ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery
  • Coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines (Fluid, Mechanical, Air Systems, Mill) to ensure seamless integration and conflict-free interfaces
  • Support site activities during installation, commissioning, and startup, providing expert engineering solutions
  • Play a mentor and coaching role in developing junior and lead engineers, fostering skill growth within the team
  • Drive continuous improvement in product quality, cost-effectiveness, and competitiveness through close collaboration with product management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in paper machine engineering, preferably with Valmet products and processes
  • In-depth knowledge of Valmet's product scope within the electrical control system domain for paper/board/tissue machines
  • Strong expertise in using Valmet Engineering tools, MS Office, and relevant automation software systems (e.g., Siemens)
  • Fluency in a foreign language (English required) for effective work communication
  • Solid understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 (or ISO 45001) management systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills, with a proven ability to lead and build effective teams in a dynamic environment

  • Repairs and maintains all hotel appliances and equipment and physical plant.
