Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Chief Accounting Officer to lead the accounting operations of our growing organization in Southfield, Michigan. This role is pivotal in overseeing financial reporting, compliance, and governance across a multi-entity structure. As a key member of the leadership team, you will collaborate with senior executives, external advisors, and various departments to ensure accuracy, scalability, and strategic alignment in all accounting processes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of quarterly and annual financial filings, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Manage accounting operations for both corporate and property-level activities, including close processes and policy development
  • Maintain robust internal controls and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to governance standards
  • Provide accounting guidance for capital market activities, including equity offerings and investor disclosures
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and partner with tax advisors for accurate filings and reporting
  • Lead multi-entity consolidations, addressing the complexities of joint ventures and diverse asset classes
  • Offer strategic advice on acquisitions, dispositions, and other complex transactions
  • Develop and implement scalable processes to support the company's growth
  • Mentor and lead a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to support technical accounting matters and strategic initiatives

Requirements:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required
  • At least 15 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within multi-entity or real estate structures
  • Extensive knowledge of SEC reporting, technical accounting, and financial compliance
  • Proven ability to lead and develop large teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting, consolidations, and audited financial statements
  • Experience working with modern accounting systems and technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex transactions and provide strategic financial advice
