The Chemistry Laboratory Technician II performs laboratory analyses, tests, prepares samples, sets up instruments, runs tests, reads/interprets tests, and releases results.
Job Responsibility:
Sets up and runs laboratory tests
Read and release test results
Prepare and fill all reagents for the analyzer
Keep track of reagent supplies and maintain inventory on the lots and expiration dates of all reagents used
Operate and troubleshoot the analyzer
Reconcile pending and queue lists daily
Ensure that manifests submissions are managed properly
Calibrate, run, or enter QC (Quality Controls) when necessary, into QA software and ensure QC has passed before running and release patient samples
Run verifications and perform equipment maintenance activities
Comply with all QA policies and protocols
Report any technical/QC problems to their lead tech or supervisor
Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures
Maintains clean and organized work area. Restocks supplies as needed
May be cross trained to perform other duties, such as performing fewer complex tests
Participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation
Consult with senior peers on non-complex Chemistry tasks to learn through experience

Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
2- or 4-year degree in science-related field preferred
Laboratory skills/experience including setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments preferred
Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology and chemistry procedures and equipment is helpful
General science background
Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
The ability to communicate effectively and accurately
Proficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written directions
Positive, can-do attitude
Personal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft Office
