The R&D Scientist II reports to the R&D Manager and is responsible for delivering technical excellence in applied material/chemical sciences within the IDS R&D organization. The role involves supporting product development programs, conducting feasibility studies, performing design verification, and working closely with material suppliers for blood collection devices.
Job Responsibility:
Represent the R&D function as an Extended Team member for large technology and product development programs
Design and execute experiments for development, verification, and evidence generation for assigned programs and projects
Document technical knowledge and recommend solutions under guidance
Support product development work streams, including Requirements Management, Design Verification, and Design Transfer to Manufacturing
Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Engineering, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs teams
Participate in intellectual property growth, submitting patent applications and Invention Disclosure Records
Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices and relevant lab procedures
Mentor and train junior team members to foster a collaborative work environment
Travel as required for conferences, manufacturing sites, and customer visits
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of direct laboratory experience
Experience with polymer formulation, processing, and structure-property relationships
B.S. or higher degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, or related engineering disciplines
Nice to have:
Experience handling clinical specimens, particularly human blood
