The Chemist I will be responsible for sample preparation and extraction, instrument maintenance and operation, data reduction and documentation of all aspects of the protocol. They will be responsible to maintain equipment, manage samples and chemical inventories and supervise the lab consumables organization and storage. They will be able to independently perform the experimental design as outlined in protocols.
Job Responsibility:
Sample management including sample inventory in -80 degree freezer, sample pickup and preparation of clinical and preclinical cohorts
Analyze matrices of various biological tissues including cells/media, plasma, serum and various mammalian tissues requiring pulverization and diluting/extracting samples for assay preparation, creating run lists and batch files
Chemical inventory management that includes ordering and maintaining stocks of standard and internal standard powders and updating the inventory regularly in Excel
Assay maintenance to include ordering consumables and ensuring delivery of material and recording appropriately
Instrument maintenance and status to include MS and LC run status (pressure, column etc) and troubleshooting LC/MS issues as they arise
Prepare LC mobile phases
Refilling solvent bottles on the LC for overnight and weekend runs
Complete regular computer backups and rebooting to comply with Lilly IT policies
General Lab maintenance
Data analysis of complex matrices to ensure high quality data by reviewing calibration curves, quality controls and sample integrity
Complete electronic lab notebooking to include excellent documentation from sample preparation to reporting
Follow the guidelines set forth with clients and in the Company Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures
Comply with clients and Company management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies
Other duties as defined by manager, department needs and workload
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology or closely related field
Minimum of 6 months of experience in wet biochemistry
